What make it different
Two years of R&D and over 200 material iterations led us to a dampening range that keeps the racquet's natural feel while filtering out the harsh vibration that wears on your arm.
Controlling shock graph
Same hit, very different shock. All four lines start from the same ~23 G impulse. Butyl rubber and neoprene still pass through about 10 G, then keep bouncing for more than 10 ms. Sorbothane peaks at roughly 2 G and settles almost immediately, without the ringing. Less shock and less after-vibration reach your hand on every shot. Source: Sorbothane, Inc. material data.
Impact absorption graph
Each loop shows a material being compressed and released. The area inside the loop is impact energy turned into heat instead of being sent back. Sorbothane's loop is far larger than natural rubber's, so it absorbs more energy on every hit. Natural rubber springs back and returns that energy, which means more rebound and more vibration passed on to your arm. Source: Sorbothane, Inc. material data.
