OUR STORY

Built By A Coach Who Lived Through The Injury

Road To Pro exists because our founder, a former ATP tour player and Grand Slam-level coach, lost years of his career to injuries the gear at the time couldn't prevent. Every product since has been engineered to change that.

WHAT IS RTP

Injury-prevention gear, built by someone who lived the injury.

Road To Pro (RTP) makes performance gear engineered around one question: what does this joint, tendon, or footstrike actually go through — and how do we absorb that impact before it turns into an injury? It started with one player's own body breaking down on tour, and it's grown into a line of Sorbothane-engineered dampeners, grip socks, and heel pads worn by athletes across tennis, pickleball, running, and badminton.

THE FOUNDER

Meet Sky Kim

The Player

Sky Kim chased a professional tennis career from the age of six, going on to reach the ATP tour and a career-high world ranking of No. 481. Two knee surgeries and a shoulder injury eventually ended his playing days — sidelined not by his opponents, but by his own body.

The Coach

Sky moved courtside as a coach, working with Hyeon Chung through his breakout 2017 Next Gen ATP Finals title in Milan — making Chung the first Korean player to win it. That momentum carried into Chung's stunning run at the 2018 Australian Open, where he upset Novak Djokovic and became the first Korean man to reach a Grand Slam semifinal.

The Founder

In 2016, Sky founded Road To Pro to build the injury-prevention gear he needed as a player and saw his own students need on tour — patenting the Sorbothane-engineered ShockSorb dampener and, in 2020, inventing the Heel Pad XC. He's also written "The Art of War: Art of Tennis," bridging Sun Tzu's strategy with the modern game — the same teaching instinct that built RTP.

“I feel your pain. I gave it all I had to go pro since I was six, only to be sidelined by injuries. I started Road to Pro so players can stay at the top of their game.” — Sky Kim, Founder of Road To Pro

The Road So Far

2016 Sky Kim founds Road To Pro after two knee surgeries and a shoulder injury end his own playing career — determined to build the gear he wishes he'd had.
2018 ShockSorb, RTP's Sorbothane-engineered vibration dampener, is developed and patented to reduce the arm strain behind tennis elbow.
2020 Heel Pad XC is invented — cushioning tested past 1,000,000 steps with no signs of compression, built to absorb heel impact before it becomes an injury.
2025 Road To Pro is named the Official Sock Partner of the APP Tour, the USA Pickleball-sanctioned tour airing on CBS, ESPN and FOX.
Today 60,000+ units sold, a 4.6★ average across 600+ verified reviews, and gear worn by ambassadors across tennis and pickleball.
