Where you place your ShockSorb® Dampener V3 affects how well it works. Here's how to install it in under a minute — and how to take it off without damaging the soft Sorbothane® core.
Installing ShockSorb® V3
- Hold your racquet with the string face toward you.
- Locate the two central main strings just above the throat.
- Push the two outer prongs between these two strings from the front.
- Press firmly until you feel a click. The V3 shell is engineered to resist pop-outs.
- Tug gently to confirm it is seated. It should not release without deliberate force.
Position tip: Start at the standard bottom position. Move one or two string intersections higher for more dampening, or toward the centre for more ball-contact feedback. Experiment during practice.
Removing it
Grip the hard outer shell — not the soft core — and ease the dampener back out of the strings. Pulling on the Sorbothane® core can tear it.
Check it after every session
Loose strings or a direct ball hit on the dampener can knock it out of position, so make sure it is still seated after each session.
Why it's worth placing correctly
Most dampeners only change the sound. ShockSorb® puts a Sorbothane® core — which absorbs 94.7% of impact (per Sorbothane® material spec) — right on the string bed, so it helps reduce the vibration that reaches your arm at the source.
